PostSubject: A Drop Of Blood Can Change The World   Sun May 25, 2014 1:28 am

Graeme and Eva had been walking for weeks.

They hadn't been met with any troublesome situations just yet. Any mention of the missing Eva had flown right by them. No one suspected his Eva to be the missing Noble.

They were lucky for that, at least.

Now they were taking a break. Graeme had stopped the horse alongside a stretch of river so they could attempt to catch some of the fish that called the dark, murky waters home.

He'd caught enough fish to last them a day or two.

Now he was just stood in the murky stream, his eyes closed as he felt for the fish in the water.

He tossed it to the side and shook off his hands. The water in these rivers felt dirty. He hated it.

The man cried out as he walked towards the bank. His body jerked in the water and he hissed a loud curse as he walked with a pronounced limp.

When he pulled himself up onto the bank, he pulled his foot into his lap. The bottom of his foot was cut with a large gash that bled profusely.

He gave a growl as he yanked his shirt off and wadded it up to press it against his foot.

A foot injury was not good.

Eva had been sitting by the fire, warming up and resting after the long walk, even the horse was beginning to tire and they relieved him by walking beside him a lot of the way, after all, he was already carrying their belongings for them.

The girl rubbed her eyes, with no source of clean water for days the once noble girl looked more like a peasant, her clothes were stained and dirt marked her pale skin.

Not that she minded in the slightest.

Her tired eyes shot up with new found life as Graeme cried out, she was up in a flash and rushing to his aid.

"Graeme?"

She called out, worry filling her voice as she ran to his side, her eyes widening as she saw the cut on his foot.

Subconsciously she was holding her breath, out in this barren land where all there was to catch was fish she had been going thirsty and she didn't want to tempt fate, she had only been taking small amounts from her horse, only enough to sustain her so it didn't burden him.

Graeme moved to lay back on the ground, hissing under his breath as he applied pressure to the wound.

"Just a cut," he informed the girl as she ran towards him.

A big cut that would likely scar a lot and, if he was unlucky enough, get infected.

He'd have to ride horseback for the next few days while it healed up somewhat. There was no way he would be walking on that.

He blinked sluggishly as he put more pressure on the wound. It was bleeding heavily. Already the blood was colouring the dark green fabric. Soon it would be completely saturating the material.

A violent shiver ran through the girl as she was forced to take a breath, the scent of blood was so strong, it could hardly be a small cut.

"You're bleeding a lot."

She mumbled, her voice muffled due to the large fangs now filling her mouth. Her eyes filled with worry as he blinked sluggishly, that wasn't a good sign.

"Stay awake, you can't pass out."

If he lost too much more they were in big trouble, the girl moved to his foot, pressing her hand to his binding and helping him by keeping it firmly against the wound despite her shaking hands.

"I willnae pass out," he grumbled.

"Back to the Hoss. Medical supplies."

He'd have to clean it out, stitch it and then bind it. And hope that he didn't bleed too much after that. He couldn't allow himself to get weak enough to pass out. Not when he was supposed to be protecting Eva.

"Now, lass."

Eva looked up to him as he spoke and promptly nodded, jumping up and rushing over to the horse.

She took a few moments to search through the horses packs before finally finding the medical kit they had packed.

She ran back over and promptly set it down beside him and opened it up, she wasn't sure of what they needed, she had never help tend to a wound like this before.

Graeme dragged the pack closer to him, pulling out a thick needle and some thread that he'd ordered her to pack. Next he pulled out some bandages. That was all they could spare for this.

"Water. Bring me my flask."

He could deal with lack of water to save his foot.

The man slowly pulled the shirt he had bundled up away from the wound. It was still bleeding, just not as much.

"Alright."

She muttered, cringing as he moved the shirt away from his wound. Eva got up and ran back to the horse, she was eager to get a fresh breath of air, when he was losing blood like this the last thing he needed was her biting him.

Without giving herself time to calm she focused on what she had been told to do, grabbing the flask and hurrying back to Graeme's side, handing it to him, keeping her eyes away from his foot.

"Is it bad?"

She asked, looking at his face instead of just checking it herself.

"Well it cannae be good, can it?" he groused back.

The pain and light-headed feeling was getting to him and he was feeling cranky. He was going to bark at her for her stupid questions.

Graeme uncapped the flask and washed out the gash as best as he could, trying to spare as much water as he could. He didn't want to dehydrate.

"Thread the needle, Eva. Quick."

Eva chewed on her lip as he barked at her, she felt stupid for asking, she just wanted to know if he was going to be alright, she needed him, she couldn't cope out here on her own.

Instead of getting snarky at him like she usually would she stayed quiet and simply nodded as she got out the needle and threaded it for him, holding it out to him once she had managed to do so.

She really did feel useless at the moment, she didn't know a single thing about mending wounds.

Eva wasn't on her own.

Graeme's knowledge on mending wounds was extremely limited.

He hardly knew what he was doing. But he couldn't let a gaping wound like this left untended. He had to do something.

The man cried out as the needle pierced his flesh.

Eva jolted and on reflex looked down at the wound, grimacing when she witnessed how deep the cut was.

"Oh Graeme..."

She murmured, she had seen how slowly those small cuts from the fight had healed, this was going to take weeks until he could walk on it properly.

"Is there anything I can do the help?"

She added, not able to take her eyes off of the blood.

"Shutting yer face would be nice."

His patience was nil right now. Tugging and sewing his own flesh together was fucking painful and he didn't need her chatting in his ear while he did it.

Tears welled in his eyes as his skin tugged again.

"Go cook the fish."

He was going to need some food to help his recovery. Raw fish wasn't going to help. He needed it cooked.

Graeme had never been this rude to her before, what was worse was that she was merely trying to help.

She bit back her reply and stood, picking up the fish and heading back to the fire, if he was fine and didn't need her help then he could sit there and sew himself up.

Eva sat by the fire grumpily, she knew it was just because he was in pain but she hadn't left the abuse back home just for him to yell at her like this.

Stabbing the stick through the fish helped quell some of her anger as she set them over the fire to cook.

"Don't forget to gut them," he called after her as she walked away.

When he had finished sewing his foot, he slumped back against the ground again, wiping at the tears that had rolled over his cheeks.

That had really really fucking hurt and he just couldn't deal with it.

He inhaled a shaky breath.

He would just sit here until he felt good enough to stand.

Eva swore under her breath and got the fish out of the fire and set about gutting them, how was she meant to know how to cook food, she didn't even eat food.

Still, she did a decent enough job of gutting them before putting them back over the fire to cook.

Once they were all set there she sat beside the fire, her arms wrapped around her knees as she warmed herself up.

Graeme pushed himself to sit up slowly, running a hand through his wild red hair.

He straightened out his shirt and sighed at the state of it, tossing it aside.

He would just have to go shirtless. There was no way of cleaning that. He hoped that the nights began to warm up soon. He didn't want to end up freezing to death.

The man pushed himself unsteadily to his feet.

He limped towards the fire slowly, wincing in pain with each step.

Graeme gave a sharp gasped breath as he felt a burning pain in his foot again. The blood began to flow. He had popped his shoddily done stitches.

Eva was upset and hungry, it was a dangerous mix, sitting over here alone with the smell of cooking food made her stomach churn, she hadn't had any luck with the food Graeme had tried to feed her previously, it just made her sick.

She gave a soft whimper and hugged her empty stomach, glancing over at her resting horse, perhaps she could have a little bit more tonight, enough to last her a day or two and hopefully they would come past a town where she could feed properly.

These thoughts of food made her lick her lips so when Graeme gasped and the smell of blood flowed through the air again, her head snapped up.

Her eyes were wild with hunger and his blood simply smelled too good, something she hadn't had before, he didn't smell like a necromancer.

It mere seconds she was on him, pushing him down onto his back on the ground as she straddled his chest, her body trembling with need, her lips pulling back over four large fangs.

The girl gave a loud growl before forcing them deep into his throat.

Graeme didn't even have time to react.

One second he was crying out at the pain of his foot, the next he was on his back, staring up into the crazed eyes of a hungry Eva.

He gave one gargled gasp as her fangs sank into his throat.

Graeme didn't have the energy to struggle.

Eva took large gulps of the rich blood that flooded her mouth, a soft whimper sounded as she fed, she was so hungry and the fire in her throat was finally being quelled.

Her small hands gripped onto him tightly, desperately holding him close, even in this crazed form.

The trembling in her body slowly dulled as she took what she had needed so badly, mouthful by mouthful she was regaining some of her self control however she was yet to realise exactly what she had done.

Growing up privileged she hadn't know this hunger before.

Graeme laid limply in her grasp.

He didn't fight against her.

Fighting would only excite the animal. His clear thinking was the one way he was going to get out of this alive; if Eva wasn't hungry enough to completely drain him.

His breathing was shallow and his body completely unresponsive.

Eva blinked slowly as she regained some of her senses, she slowly began to realise what was happening.

She was feeding, but from who? She looked down, her eyes settling on Graeme's face, it took a moment before they went wide. She was feeding from Graeme, the man was already injured and bleeding heavily.

Carefully she pulled away from her neck, trying not to cause him more pain as she slid her fangs from his neck.

"Graeme..."

She muttered, tears welling in her eyes before sliding down her cheeks.

"I...I-I'm so sorry..."

She added, her voice breaking, the fact that she was distort for what she had done was evident.

He didn't have the strength to reply.

Graeme just laid limply, his eyes struggling to stay open.

He couldn't do anything right now. He was far too weak. All he could do was lay, breathe shallowly and try and cling weakly on the last vestiges of consciousness as they faded from him.

Eva gave a soft whimper as she looked down at him, he didn't look well, he was barely conscious and she wouldn't be able to stop the bleeding.

"Don't die Graeme...please...I need you."

She muttered, stroking his face as she spilled more tears, for once in her life she cared more about someone else's well being other than her own, she didn't want to lose him.

The girl racked her brain on what to do, when some of the servants had fallen ill or got injured they had used their own blood to heal them, Vampire blood had some healing properties, not as much as Elven but it was all she had right now.

It was a long shot that this would work in time but she was running out of options.

The girl bit harshly into her own wrist with a soft cry, burying her fang in deep before pressing the bleeding flesh to his mouth after forcing his lips open.

"Please drink it, it will help...you have to be okay..."

She muttered between sniffles as she stroked his hair with her free hand.

The blood filled his mouth, slipping from the corners of his lips.

His shallow breaths were followed by weak choking and then a small swallow. The first swallow was followed by a second weak swallow.

His eyes squeezed shut as he swallowed over and over, breathing through his nose now.
